At about 12:15 P.M., he saw a man with a rifle on
the sixth floor of the Texas State Book Depository Building at the southwest
corner of the building. He is certain this was the southwest corner and
was the corner nearest the triple underpass. He assumed this person was
a security guard, and attempted to point him out to his wife, but since
she had forgotten her glasses she could not see that far.

Mr. SPECTER. Did you have any impression or reaction as to the point of origin when you heard the first noise?
Mr. ROWLAND. Well, I began looking, I didnt look at the building mainly, and as practically any of the police officers that were there then will tell you, the echo effect was such that it sounded like it came from the railroad yards. That is where I looked, that is where all the policemen, everyone converged on the railroad. [Rowland claimed to have seen a man with a gun at the 6th floor window of Book Depository five minutes before assassination.] | ![]() |
